About Ondulado Kennel

My husband Steve and I have been involved with the Portuguese Water Dog since 1990, when we were fortunate enough to acquire our foundation bitch "Del Sur’s Sweet Molly Girl" from Lana Woodburn of Del Sur PWDs, Erie, Colorado. At that time there were not very many PWDs in the country. On July 9,1993 "Molly" became the first CKC Champion PWD – bitch –shown exclusively in the Lion Clip.  Molly crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the summer of 2006 and we miss her very much, but have many generations of her off-spring around to remind us of her and her sweet nature and steady ways. We took our kennel name from the word "Ondulado" – which means "wavy" in Portuguese. Molly was a wavy coated bitch.

Our home is located on six acres just outside of Orillia ON. Our puppies are born in the bedroom and raised in the dining room - close to the hustle and bustle of a busy household. Most of our puppies go to family homes where they become much loved and pampered pets. For this reason we breed for good character, superior intelligence, trainability and strong healthy genetic background. All breeding stock is health tested, and copies of certifications are included in your puppy pack. The puppies are CKC registered, microchipped, and placed on CKC non-breeding agreements. The sales contract clearly lays out the health guarantee and what you can expect of us as your pups breeder. In turn we ask that you give your Ondulado puppy a proper and loving home for the rest of it’s life, incurring the responsibilities of ownership including training and guiding the dog so it is a joy to its owner, a credit to its breeders and an ambassador for its breed.

We are members of the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) (1991-Present), the PWDCC (Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada) (1993-Present) and the PWDCA (Portuguese Water Dog Club of America) (1991-Present). These affiliations are important allowing us to support the breed, and to be involved in a community of like-minded and committed enthusiasts. Being affiliated with these associations allows us to keep current with developing issues that concern the Portuguese Water Dog breed and dog ownership in general.
